WEDDING AT RÅNÄS SLOTT
Rånäs Slott sits by Lake Skedviken in Roslagen, about 50 minutes by car from Stockholm and 35 minutes from Arlanda. For a wedding you always have the castle and the surrounding buildings to yourselves. The Gallery seats up to 118 guests for dinner, and the castle has 50 rooms with 86 regular beds. The wedding package costs SEK 1,895 per person in 2026, with accommodation on top.
Castle wedding venue north of Stockholm
The castle was built in the 1830s for the Reuterskiöld family and was converted in 1998, opening as a hotel in April 1999. Italian artists painted the ceilings and walls of the salons, and from the terrace you look out over Lake Skedviken.
The toast on the terrace
In the wedding package the toast is held on the terrace overlooking Lake Skedviken, and coffee, liqueurs and cake are served in the first-floor salons.
Ceremony in the park or indoors
The ceremony can be held in the castle park, in front of the Light Pavilion on its own small island reached by an eight-metre bridge, or in a nearby church. If it rains, the ceremony moves into the Reuterskiöld Hall or onto the castle steps.
Dinner in the Gallery
After the ceremony, dinner is laid in the Gallery, under painted ceilings and walls that are largely original, with oil lamps on the tables.

Wedding at Rånäs Slott: practical info
Ceremony at Rånäs or in a nearby church
Rånäs Slott has several ceremony spots depending on the season. In summer you can marry in the castle park or in front of the Light Pavilion. Setting up an outdoor ceremony with chairs costs SEK 8,000.
For winter weddings the Reuterskiöld Hall inside the castle gives a warm indoor setting for a classic ceremony. For a church ceremony there is a church nearby.
If you hold the ceremony at the castle, the staff set up the ceremony space with chairs, and the Reuterskiöld Hall is always ready as a backup if the weather turns.
Preparations in the bridal suite
Here you can enjoy the calm, take in the setting and prepare in your own time. The suite is elegantly furnished and offers a peaceful place where you can put the finishing touches on the details and gather your thoughts ahead of the big day. In the evening you can wind down and rest, and in the morning you wake up in a quiet and harmonious setting, ready to step into your wedding day.
Wedding dinner in the Gallery, up to 118 guests
The wedding dinner is served in the Gallery, a dining hall that seats up to 118 guests with a top table and long tables, or 84 at round tables. The castle kitchen cooks the wedding menu from seasonal produce, and you taste it once before the wedding.
The package includes a sparkling aperitif with a refill or a glass of champagne, three canapés, a three-course dinner, wedding cake, coffee and tea, a late-night snack, staff, table setting and a room for dancing and the bar. The wine package costs from SEK 695 per person.
Tents for larger parties
For larger weddings a wedding tent can be set up on the castle grounds, with the castle as a backdrop. Guests who do not fit in the castle rooms can stay at nearby hotels the castle works with.
Dance and celebration in the castle’s party floor
After dinner the party moves to the castle party floor, where the dance floor opens and the music takes over. There is room for live music or a DJ. The bar is open until 1am, and for SEK 4,000 per hour it can stay open until 3am.
Accommodation and pricing
Rånäs Slott has 50 rooms, 26 of them in the castle itself, with 86 regular beds and about 116 with extra beds. Up to about 116 guests can therefore stay on site, and the party can carry on without anyone thinking about transport. The bridal suite waits for the couple, and breakfast is served in the castle dining room the next morning.
Wedding accommodation: SEK 1,295 per person per night including breakfast.

The minimum is 75 guests with overnight stay, and in summer the minimum is 55 guests on Mondays and 65 on Wednesdays and Thursdays. The castle takes a part payment of SEK 50,000 within 30 days of booking. You may not bring your own alcohol, since the castle holds a licence to serve.

The history of Rånäs Slott
Rånäs began as a Walloon ironworks at the end of the 1700s. The castle you see today was built in the 1830s, and it opened as a hotel and conference venue in April 1999.
Reuterskiöld and the building of the castle
Marshal of the Realm Axel Didrik Reuterskiöld had the foundation laid in 1833 but died before the castle was finished.
The architect Per Axel Nyström, who had trained in France and Italy, designed the castle in a late Empire style, and Italian artists painted the ceilings and walls.
The estate and the 1900s
Axel Didrik Reuterskiöld’s grandson Oskar Axel Reuterskiöld became lord of the castle at 16. He founded Rånäs station, a dairy and a distillery.
The Reuterskiöld family owned Rånäs until 1929, when the City of Stockholm bought the castle.
A hotel since 1999
In 1998 the castle was converted into a hotel and conference venue, and it opened in April 1999. Today Rånäs Slott AB runs it for conferences, weekend stays and weddings.

Tent if needed. Larger parties can use a tent on the grounds, but it changes the feel. Consider carefully.
The allée down to the lake. The best spot for portraits and a quiet moment together, especially in autumn.

My name is Karin Lundin and I am a wedding photographer based in Stockholm. I have photographed multiple weddings at Rånäs Slott. The Gallery is the heart of Rånäs. The light that pours through its windows during dinner creates an atmosphere that photographs beautifully without any additional lighting.
The tree-lined allée leading down to the lake is my favourite spot for portraits, especially in autumn when the colours turn. My tip: if your group fits, choose the Gallery for dinner. It is one of the most photogenic rooms I have worked in.
