WEDDING AT KRUSENBERG HERRGÅRD
A wedding at Krusenberg Herrgård means a combination of beautiful nature and historic elegance. The manor sits beautifully on the shore of Lake Mälaren just outside Uppsala and offers a quiet, framed setting for a personal and memorable day. The classical building with its modern comforts has made it one of the most sought-after wedding venues in the Uppsala area. Whether you are planning an intimate ceremony or a larger celebration, Krusenberg Herrgård gives both space and closeness, a place where you can gather your nearest without compromising on feeling or quality.

Krusenberg Herrgård
A wedding at Krusenberg Herrgård invites a whole weekend where you can gather your nearest in calm, nature-close surroundings. The manor sits on the shore of Lake Mälaren, with large green areas and historic buildings that give the day a clear sense of place. Here it is possible to let everything happen in one flow, ceremony, dinner, celebration and overnight stay, without having to travel between places. It creates a simplicity that lets you focus on what you are there for.
A manor with time and space
Krusenberg Herrgård has a long history but still offers a stripped-back and modern experience. The rooms are gently renovated, and the salons in the main building give plenty of room for both calm and conversation. Outside, there is space to move freely between ceremony, mingling and the evening dinner. It is not lavish or showy, but it is beautiful in its own way. A place where time gets to move a little more slowly.
Movement between rooms and nature
During a wedding day it is often the movement that creates the rhythm. At Krusenberg you can let the day flow between different settings, from shaded garden paths to open lawns, then on into the salons of the house. Guests can settle wherever it feels right, children can run freely without disturbing, and anyone who needs a pause can find a bench with a view of the water. Everything connects, but it never feels crowded.
The morning after
The day after a wedding is often quiet but meaningful. At Krusenberg Herrgård there is the option to gather over breakfast or brunch, take in the impressions and say a slow goodbye. Those who stayed the night can walk down to the water, take a swim, or just sit a little longer before it is time to pack up. It becomes an ending that gets to take its time, without feeling forced.
A house you borrow for a weekend
Having your wedding here means getting access to more than a venue. It is a house with history, but it does not feel formal in the way many other manor houses can. Here it is more like borrowing someone’s home. You move freely, rearrange furniture as needed, and set the tone for how the weekend should feel. Staff are on hand, but they also leave room. It suits couples who want to create something of their own, without having to do everything themselves.

>For the ceremony there are several options. Many couples choose to say yes at the picturesque jetty with the glittering water of Mälaren as a backdrop. The ceremony can also be held in the lush garden or indoors in one of the elegant salons, which gives flexibility no matter the weather.
Reception spaces for both large and small parties
The manor’s banquet hall holds up to 90 guests and offers a bright and airy atmosphere with views of the green garden. For smaller parties there are intimate salons that create a warm and personal mood. The large outdoor areas also allow for tent solutions for larger celebrations.
The evening before in the Brygghus
A photographer’s perspective on Krusenberg
My name is Karin Lundin and I am a wedding photographer based in Stockholm. I have photographed weddings at Krusenberg Herrgård. What I love about Krusenberg is the closeness to the water – Lake Mälaren is right at the foot of the garden, and on summer evenings guests often end the night with a swim. Those images always become the favourites.
The manor is just the right size – everything feels close and personal. My tip: use the jetty for portraits at sunset. It is one of the most beautiful spots I have photographed at in the entire Mälaren Valley.
Many couples choose to gather the evening before the wedding for a shared dinner with closest family and friends. At Krusenberg Herrgård there is a perfect place for this down by the water. Next to the Brygghus is a generous terrace where you can set the table for a relaxed dinner in the evening sun, with a view of Lake Mälaren. It creates a beautiful and welcoming start to the weekend, without becoming too formal.
Once dinner is over, there is the option of using the wood-fired sauna right at the water’s edge. An evening swim and sauna give a calm and stripped-back ending for anyone who wants to wind down ahead of the next day. A quiet gathering where conversation gets to take place and expectations can settle.
Want to capture the day on film as well? I often work alongside Nordvér Films, who create cinematic wedding films with the same feeling for light and moments.
Dance and celebration in the manor’s party floor
After dinner the celebration continues in a room next to the dining hall, so nothing needs to be rearranged or paused. The dance floor can open right away, while the energy is still at its peak. The room suits live music, a DJ or your own playlist, and the bar is close by for anyone who wants to top up a glass. For those who prefer a calmer pace, there are also seating areas in the adjoining rooms. It creates a natural rhythm in the evening where both dance and conversation get space, without breaks or waiting.
Accommodation
Having your wedding at Krusenberg Herrgård means you can gather both the celebration and the overnight stay in one place. There are a total of 59 hotel rooms across three different buildings, all furnished in a warm, country style with views of the garden or Lake Mälaren. Many couples choose to book the entire manor for themselves, which creates a calm and private feeling where you have space to be with your guests without interruption.
All rooms are equipped with bathrobes, slippers and products from Kerstin Florian. In the evening guests can gather in the salons, and for those who want to wind down there is both a wood-fired sauna by the lake and the chance for an evening swim. Room prices vary depending on the season, but typically range from around 1,100 to 1,800 SEK per night (about 100 to 165 EUR / 105 to 175 USD). Wi-Fi and parking are included, and the staff are happy to help make the stay as smooth as possible.

I am Karin Lundin: wedding photographer in Stockholm
I photograph weddings with a blend of documentary storytelling and clean, timeless aesthetics. For me, wedding photography is about more than creating beautiful images. It is about capturing the feeling of a day that will never come back.
My background is a combination of sociology and commercial photography, which has shaped how I see people and stories. I have a degree in sociological social analysis from Stockholm University and a degree in advertising and magazine publishing from Gamleby Photography School. My feeling for light and composition was developed through an internship with the fashion photographer Carl Bengtsson, and I have worked as a retoucher and studio manager at Wolfgang Kleinschmidt. My early years as a press photographer taught me to read situations quickly and capture moments that only last a second.
Over the years my work has been recognised in the industry, and I have received awards like Europe’s Best Wedding Photographer (Way Up North, 2020), Rising Star (Rangefinder, 2021) and a place on the list of Sweden’s top 5 wedding photographers (Wezoree, 2024). I am one of the photographers often recommended by Sweden’s leading wedding planners and have also had the honour of speaking at Way Up North, one of Europe’s largest conferences for wedding photographers.
I work closely with videographers to create a coherent visual experience for couples who want both stillness and movement in their wedding memories. My style is authentic and elegant, with a feeling for the subtle. I look for moments that feel natural and present. Images that not only show how things looked, but how they felt.

The history of Krusenberg Herrgård
Krusenberg Herrgård, on the shore of Lake Mälaren just south of Uppsala, has a rich history that stretches back several centuries. From its founding in the 1600s to its current role as a hotel and conference venue, the manor has been a central place for culture and history in the region.
The founding in the 1600s
In the 1640s, the nobleman and chamber councillor Johan Jespersson Cruus af Harfvila established a manor by bringing together nine farms in the village of Alsike. After his death in 1644, his widow Catharina (Karin) Axelsdotter Oxenstierna took the initiative to build a manor house on the site. She named the estate Krusenberg in memory of her husband.
The first castle and its fate
The original limestone castle, designed by Nicodemus Tessin the Elder, was completed in the 1640s. Sadly, this castle was destroyed by fire in 1716, and only the south wing, known as the Tessin wing, survived.
The construction of the present main building
After a period of decline, a new main building was constructed in 1802, partly on the old foundations. This building, which we see today, was designed by the architect Carl Christoffer Gjörwell and represents a neoclassical style.
Gustaf Cederström’s artistic legacy
In the late 1800s, Krusenberg Herrgård became known in the art world when the artist Gustaf Cederström painted the second version of his work “Karl XII’s Funeral Procession” here. The original is today at the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm, but a reproduction still graces the large salon of the manor.
The legend of the White Lady
Like many old manors, Krusenberg has its own ghost story. “The White Lady” is said to be a kind-hearted ghost who watches over the manor. According to tradition she shows herself mainly to women and is believed to bring luck to those she meets.
Krusenberg Herrgård today
Today Krusenberg Herrgård operates as a hotel and conference venue, where visitors can enjoy the historic atmosphere combined with modern comforts. With its closeness to Uppsala and Arlanda, it is a popular destination for both relaxation and business meetings.
The history of the manor is a fascinating journey through time, where every era has left its mark on this storied place.

A photographer’s notes on Krusenberg
Krusenberg is one of the venues I return to regularly. The manor house sits at the water in Uppland, about 45 minutes north of Stockholm, and the grounds mix formal English-garden sections with wilder woodland closer to the lake. For photography, this variety matters. A single venue that offers multiple distinct backdrops within a short walk is rare, and Krusenberg delivers both the classic slottsbröllop feel and quieter, more intimate spots depending on where you move through the grounds.
| Space | Capacity | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Main dining hall | Up to 120 seated | Seated manor dinner |
| Garden ceremony | Up to 150 | Summer outdoor ceremonies |
| Manor accommodation | 30+ overnight | Weekend weddings |

Key takeaways
- Start with guest count and weekend format. That decides which part of the venue suits you.
- Photographer and venue usually book at the same time, 12 to 18 months before peak summer.
- Own-drinks and catering policy vary by venue. Clear this up early in the quote process.
- A rain plan for outdoor ceremonies is almost always necessary in Nordic weather.
- Choose a photographer who has worked at the venue before. The difference shows in the gallery.
