Häringe Slott sits on a peninsula in Haninge, about 35 km south of Stockholm. The castle hosts weddings of up to 140 guests and has 68 hotel rooms, so the ceremony, dinner, party and overnight stay all happen in one place. With more than 80 guests you have the whole castle to yourselves. That is why a wedding here often becomes a full weekend, with dinner the evening before and brunch before the guests head home.
Castle wedding venue south of Stockholm
Field marshal Gustav Horn built the stone castle in 1657. In the 1930s Häringe was owned by the match magnate Torsten Kreuger, who built the pool, and later by Axel Wenner-Gren, the founder of Electrolux. The pool from the Kreuger years is still there.
The atmosphere is welcoming yet grand. There is room for the formal and the spontaneous. It suits couples who want something personal, but who also want to feel that the day is held by something larger.

A wedding at Häringe Slott gives you a 17th-century castle with the whole estate to yourselves when you are more than 80 guests. The castle sits on a peninsula south of Stockholm, surrounded by parkland, with a pool from the 1930s that works for drinks before dinner.
A big part of a Häringe wedding is the food. The castle restaurant cooks seasonal menus. Whether you choose a classic three-course dinner in one of the halls or want to create something more personal with the kitchen, the dinner can be tailored to you.
Many couples gather their guests again the next day, and brunch is included in the castle wedding package.
Rooms and accommodation for the whole wedding party
Häringe Slott has plenty of rooms for the couple and the guests. From suites to smaller rooms in the wings, all guests can stay over without thinking about getting home.
Many choose to gather their nearest the day before for dinner or a smaller mingle. Waking up together in this setting brings a calm that carries into the day itself.

A photographer’s perspective on Häringe
My name is Karin Lundin and I am a wedding photographer based in Stockholm. I have photographed several weddings at Häringe Slott. What makes Häringe special from a photographic standpoint is the pool area. It creates a completely different kind of evening image than most castles offer. When the sun sets, the light reflects in the water and the atmosphere feels more Mediterranean than Swedish.
The dining room has warm candlelight and crystal chandeliers, which gives the dinner photographs a cinematic quality without extra lighting. My tip: plan your portraits along the allée towards the water, ideally half an hour before sunset. That is where the best light on the entire property is.
The Häringe restaurant is open year round. Before the wedding you taste the menu and wines together with the kitchen. The chefs cook for celebrations often and offer both classic menus and modern takes, with Swedish seasonal ingredients and good flexibility for allergies and preferences.
It is also possible to combine food and drink with personal choices, like serving a particular dish that has a connection to you, or pouring a specific wine that means something to you as a couple.

The flow of the day, ceremony and celebration in one place
Having both the ceremony and the wedding celebration at Häringe Slott creates a natural flow through the whole day. You skip transfers and can focus on being present with your guests. The settings around the castle make it easy to find a place that feels right for you.
The Rotunda, a beloved choice for the ceremony
One of the two most popular ceremony spots is the Rotunda by the orangery, set in the garden and surrounded by greenery. The round shape and open space frame the ceremony without taking over, and it is easy to shape with flowers, chairs or decorations. The ceremony site costs SEK 20,000 including 100 chairs, and a ceremony at the castle needs written approval from Häringe.
The Apple Grove and the Allée
The Apple Grove is the other popular choice, especially in late summer or early autumn when the trees are full and the air is mild. It feels more secluded, and the neighbouring allée with its stone statues gives a grand yet relaxed backdrop. Many couples take their portraits here too, since the light is often soft.
Indoor ceremonies and the winter package
For winter weddings, or when the weather is uncertain, the ceremony can be held in the Orangery for up to 40 guests, in Stensalen, in the Kreuger Wing or on the steps by the pool. From January to March, Häringe also offers a winter package from SEK 3,295 per person, with a minimum of 50 guests and the whole castle to yourselves.
After the ceremony the guests move on to drinks and dinner, often with a pause for mingling. The dinner is held in one of the larger halls, with room for a seated dinner, speeches and dancing. Since all guests stay at the castle the mood is often relaxed, and the package keeps the party venue open until 2am.
Preparations in the bridal suite and your own floor
As the couple you stay in one of the castle suites, with check-in from 3pm. The suites are in the white stone houses next to the main building, with Hästens beds and private bathrooms. Here you can get ready in calm and land together before the day begins, and in the evening you return to the same place.
Group photo in the allée or in front of the castle entrance
After the ceremony it is common to gather everyone for a group photo. The long allée with its characteristic stone statues is a recurring favourite. Others choose to take the photo in front of the castle steps or in the garden, depending on weather, light and season.
Wedding dinner indoors or outdoors in the Rotunda
The wedding dinner is usually served in the large dining hall with room for up to 85 guests. For groups between 85 and 140 guests the Kreuger wing is used. There is also the option of setting the table outside in the Rotunda, if the weather allows. The Rotunda is surrounded by greenery and gives an atmospheric, airy feeling with the sky as the ceiling.
The castle wedding package costs SEK 4,475 per person on the 2025 price list. It includes a glass of champagne for the toast, three canapés, a three-course dinner or buffet, coffee and a late-night snack, the party venue until 2am, a night in a shared double room and brunch. Wine with dinner is extra, from SEK 575 per bottle. Tables are set with white linen and white porcelain, and the menu follows the season.
Dance and celebration in the castle halls
After dinner the celebration can continue in the castle’s party floor or another hall depending on the number of guests and the weather. There is room for dancing, DJ, live music and bar. The closeness of the hotel rooms makes it easy for guests to move between celebration and rest without leaving the area.
Staying overnight at the castle
Häringe Slott has 68 hotel rooms across several buildings, with around 138 beds in total. The standard rooms are in the Vasa wing and the Wennergren pavilion, about 200 metres from the main building, while the deluxe rooms and suites are in the stone houses right next to it. All rooms have Hästens beds, bathrooms with shower or bath, and access to the whole estate. Check-in is from 3pm and check-out by 1pm. There are no hotel rooms in the main building.
Brunch the day after
After a long wedding day, many couples close the weekend with a shared brunch. At Häringe Slott brunch is included in the wedding package and served from 8.30 to 11.30, so everyone can eat before check-out.
Pool party the day after
Once the wedding day is over, there is something special about meeting again in a new way, and at Häringe the pool area is the natural place for it. Swimwear, music in the background, sun loungers and a swim. The pool is open May to October for hotel guests. The pool party is booked separately with the castle, so ask about the price when you book.

THE HISTORY OF HÄRINGE SLOTT
Häringe Slott has a rich and many-layered history that stretches back more than a thousand years. From the Viking age to today’s hotel and conference operation, the castle has been a central place for power, culture and innovation.
From Viking age to medieval times
The history of the Häringe peninsula begins around the year 1000, when the Viking Sote is said to have claimed the area. In 1278 Häringe passed from King Magnus Ladulås to the bishopric of Strängnäs.
The Great Power era and its changes
During the 1500s Häringe became part of the estates of Gustav Vasa. In the 1650s Count Gustav Horn had the present main building constructed, which was completed in 1657. After Horn’s death the castle was inherited by his daughter Agneta Horn, one of several strong women who came to govern Häringe through the centuries.
A pool with history
Häringe Slott also has details that give the place a playful character. The best known is the outdoor pool, built in the 1930s by the then owner Torsten Kreuger. It was Sweden’s first pool of Olympic dimensions and had a slide straight from the second floor of the castle.
Modernisations of the 1900s and famous owners
In the 1930s the castle underwent extensive renovations led by the matchstick magnate Torsten Kreuger. He installed Sweden’s first outdoor pool of Olympic dimensions, complete with a slide from the second floor, and built an underground tunnel between one of the wings and the main building. When Kreuger was later charged with embezzlement he sold the castle to his acquaintance Axel Wenner-Gren, the founder of Electrolux.
Current owners and operation
Since 2017 Häringe Slott has been owned by Vesko Mijac, and his daughter Sofie Seitamo Mijac runs the hotel, restaurant and conference business.
Through the centuries Häringe Slott has been a place of decadence, scandal, glamour and celebration. Today the castle welcomes guests from near and far to share in its rich history and its own atmosphere.
